Responsibilities:
- Design, build and operate platform solutions that increase the reliability, security, and scalability of the database platform.
- Apply cloud infrastructure, networking, and CI/CD best practices for operational data storage systems on AWS/EKS.
- Collaborate with Product & Analytics teams on orchestration, access control, and metadata workflows.
- Deliver code and infrastructure changes (IaC) that move the team roadmap forward and improve platform health.
- Take part in on-call rotations, incident response, troubleshooting, and post-incident remediation.
- Enhance observability (metrics, logging, tracing) to ensure SLOs and availability objectives are met.
Requirements:
- Proven hands-on experience with AWS and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
- Strong skills with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and at least one programming language (Python preferred).
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins) and workflow orchestration (Apache Airflow).
- Familiarity with dbt for data transformations and observability tools (DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
- Understanding of cloud networking and security best practices.
- Nice to have: knowledge of database internals (performance tuning, HA, sharding), backend engineering experience, and metadata platforms (OpenMetadata).
- Excellent communication, ownership, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
