Backend Engineer – Core Systems at N26

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement end-to-end features for core banking systems (accounts, ledgers, payments) with ownership from spec to production.
- Work in a cross-functional team to prioritise work, unblock issues, and ship incremental, high-quality improvements.
- Investigate banking domain problems, question assumptions, and propose robust technical solutions.
- Maintain high standards for testing, security, and operational reliability; participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing.
Requirements:
- Solid understanding of microservice architecture and experience with relational databases (Postgres preferred).
- Proficiency in Kotlin and Spring Boot or equivalent backend technologies.
- Experience with cloud deployment and operations, ideally AWS and Kubernetes.
- Autonomous, product-focused mindset with strong English communication skills.
- Desirable: experience with Kafka, event-driven systems, or payments/ledger domain knowledge.
