Responsibilities:
- Work in a cross-functional squad to design, build, and maintain parts of Monzo’s banking platform (frontend and backend).
- Deliver performant web experiences and resilient backend services that solve customer problems.
- Participate in system design, API development, and operational support for services you own.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, mobile/web engineers, data analysts and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement: testing, observability, deployments, and open-source work.

Requirements:
- Strong backend experience with distributed systems and service-oriented design.
- Comfortable writing server-side and client-side code (Go, Java/TypeScript/JS, React or similar).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, orchestration (Kubernetes), and messaging (Kafka/Cassandra or similar).
- Product-minded: prioritise user impact, iterate quickly, and work with ambiguity.
- Good communication and collaboration skills for cross-discipline teamwork.
