Responsibilities:
- Lead data exploration to surface patterns, anomalies and business signals.
- Prepare and engineer features; construct reproducible datasets for modelling and analysis.
- Build, tune and validate ML models (classification, regression, clustering) using standard frameworks.
- Apply statistical techniques (hypothesis testing, inference) to validate findings and support recommendations.
- Choose and apply appropriate evaluation metrics, cross‑validation and overfitting checks.
- Use experiment tracking and model management tools (MLflow, W&B, Databricks ML) to ensure reproducibility.
- Write and run SQL queries to interrogate data sources; create impactful visualisations with BI tools or Python libs.
- Implement MLOps best practices for versioning, registries and deployment readiness; use cloud ML services as needed.
- Communicate insights to technical and non‑technical stakeholders and ensure integration with broader data projects.
- Take ownership of model performance, robustness and ongoing maintenance.
Requirements:
- 3–5 years’ experience in data science, applied analytics or a closely related role.
- Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or similar quantitative field.
- Strong Python skills and practical experience with Pandas, NumPy and ML libraries (scikit‑learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Proficiency with SQL and experience designing validation strategies and model evaluation.
- Familiarity with experiment tracking, model registries and basic MLOps processes.
- Experience with cloud ML platforms (Azure ML, AWS SageMaker or equivalent) preferred.
- Able to present complex results clearly and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
