Responsibilities:
- Own delivery of quarterly goals and lead engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
- Collaborate with product managers, design, and analytics to define technical plans that balance risks and trade-offs.
- Design, implement, and operate backend systems for recoveries using Python, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Build and maintain batch and asynchronous workloads (scheduled jobs, backfills, large-scale data processing) with strong focus on correctness and observability.
- Monitor production health, create metrics and alerts, support on-call and incident response, and escalate when needed.
- Set and improve code review, design standards, and quality practices; mentor peers and contribute to team growth.

Requirements:
- Minimum ~1.5 years of software engineering experience and demonstrable backend production work.
- Proficiency with Python, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes; experience shipping web apps (React) is a plus.
- Experience designing, running, and troubleshooting batch/asynchronous systems with attention to failure handling and observability.
- Ability to craft technical plans for significant features and make safe changes in large codebases.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a proactive approach to feedback and personal growth.
- Comfortable participating in operational duties (on-call) and owning system reliability.
