Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and operate scalable Python microservices (FastAPI/Django) supporting customer-facing and internal systems.
- Optimize systems for high throughput and reliability; identify and remove performance bottlenecks.
- Integrate third-party services and manage AWS-based deployments (including Lambda).
- Maintain containerized workloads with Docker and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitLab).
- Lead incident response, debugging and production troubleshooting efforts.
- Drive code quality via reviews, architecture discussions and mentoring.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Python and FastAPI/Django expertise.
- Proven experience with microservices, distributed systems and high-load applications.
- Hands-on AWS experience (Lambda and cloud infra), Docker and CI/CD tooling.
- Knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka) and third-party API integration.
- Strong communication, problem-solving skills and ability to work in a remote-first environment.
- Experience in fintech, payments or real-time processing is highly desirable; relocation support to Cyprus available.
