About the role

Responsibilities:
- Work in the Everyday Banking Payments team to design, build and operate high-volume payment and card transaction systems.
- Collaborate with Tech Lead and cross-functional teammates to architect new features and deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Implement, test, deploy and maintain backend services using a JVM language and Spring Boot in production.
- Mentor junior engineers, enforce code quality through reviews and help improve team practices.
- Ensure systems meet standards for reliability, security, performance and observability.
- Participate in continuous improvement: propose technical enhancements, tooling and automation.

Requirements:
- Strong experience developing production services with a JVM language and Spring Boot (Kotlin experience is a plus).
- Solid understanding of microservice architecture and cloud-native design (preferably AWS).
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, ideally Postgres.
- Proven track record of shipping features in large-scale, high-throughput systems.
- Good testing, deployment and observability practices (CI/CD, monitoring, automated tests).
- Strong collaboration, communication skills and a growth mindset; able to mentor others.
- Fluent English; willingness to work hybrid from Berlin or Barcelona offices.
