Responsibilities:
- Architect clean, maintainable solutions for complex infrastructure problems in energy billing and market communication.
- Design and scale core backend services that handle dynamic pricing, billing flows and ledger operations.
- Ship and iterate quickly: prioritize, implement and improve high-impact infrastructure features.
- Uphold engineering standards via code review, documentation and thoughtful system design.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate market protocols, payments and accounting logic.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–10+ years backend engineering experience, with strong TypeScript (Node.js) skills.
- Hands-on PostgreSQL experience and familiarity with an ORM (Drizzle experience a plus).
- Experience with Next.js for backend routes or server components and async programming patterns.
- Understanding of distributed systems and building scalable, maintainable core services.
- Experience integrating Stripe and implementing billing/payment flows.
- Strong English communication skills and an ownership mindset; ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work on-site in Berlin; visa sponsorship and relocation support available.
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration (Temporal), lightweight HTTP frameworks (Hono), or background in energy/fintech.
