Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement core backend systems: modular billing engine, accounting ledger, and energy-market interfaces
- Design scalable services to handle dynamic billing, energy trading integrations, and real-time data flows
- Build backend APIs and services (Next.js API routes / server components) with attention to maintainability and reliability
- Drive architectural decisions that reduce complexity at the system level
- Improve code quality via tests, code reviews, observability, and CI/CD practices
- Move quickly in ambiguous situations, shipping pragmatic solutions and iterating rapidly
Requirements:
- 3–10+ years backend development experience with TypeScript (Node.js) and asynchronous programming
- Strong PostgreSQL experience and familiarity with ORMs such as Drizzle for reliable data access patterns
- Experience integrating Stripe and building end-to-end billing flows
- Knowledge of distributed systems design and how to scale and operate services in production
- Familiarity with Next.js for backend services is preferred
- Strong CS fundamentals, clear communication, and an ownership mindset for working in an early-stage environment
- This role requires regular in-person presence at the Berlin office
