Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and operate high-traffic backend services that shape content selection for millions of users.
- Drive full development lifecycle: discovery, design, implementation, testing (TDD), deployment and monitoring.
- Build and maintain reliable RESTful APIs and microservices using JVM/functional languages (Scala/Java) and familiar stack components (Finch, PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB).
- Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, planning, incident response and continuous improvement of service quality and performance.
- Optionally contribute to frontend components where applicable.
Requirements:
- Production experience with JVM and/or functional languages; Scala proficiency desirable (willingness to learn accepted).
- Hands-on knowledge of building and operating RESTful APIs and microservices at scale.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS), and data stores such as PostgreSQL, Redis or DynamoDB.
- Strong testing mindset (TDD), experience with code reviews and modern CI/CD practices.
- Good system-design sense for high-traffic services and monitoring/observability best practices.
- Team-oriented, curious, and able to communicate effectively across locations and stakeholders.
