Responsibilities:
- Own and evolve core dbt services: CI/CD pipelines, runtime config, macros, hooks and performance tuning.
- Act as the engineering interface for analytics engineers: review SQL, unblock teams and promote best practices.
- Develop and improve data quality and governance tooling: anomaly detection, freshness/drift monitoring, contract enforcement.
- Contribute to Python-based tooling and observability utilities with tested, maintainable code.
- Influence data governance: promote data product thinking, ownership and contract-first design across the data mesh.
- Collaborate with the data platform team to align shared infrastructure decisions with analytics needs.

Requirements:
- Strong Python skills (typed, tested, maintainable code) and production experience contributing to shared tooling.
- Advanced SQL: query plans, performance tuning and high standards for production queries.
- Proven experience with dbt at scale (macros, incremental models, project structure, CI/CD integration).
- Track record of improving reliability, quality or productivity in a data organisation.
- Community-oriented: able to coach, influence without authority and embed good engineering practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and experience working across platform and analytics teams.
