(Senior) Backend Engineer, Maps at Wheely

Responsibilities:
- Develop high-quality, performant backend services—primarily in Go—for map/motion pipelines (map-matching, ETA, coordinate processing).
- Implement and own new microservices and help migrate functionality from legacy systems.
- Design systems for low latency and high reliability under heavy load.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists to convert requirements into technical designs.
- Apply TDD/DDD practices and participate in code reviews, CI/CD workflows, and system design discussions.
Requirements:
- 3+ years backend experience (5+ for senior candidates) building scalable services; Go preferred.
- Practical experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) and message brokers (RabbitMQ/Kafka).
- At least 1 year working with geospatial/mapping problems: noisy GPS, map-matching, routing or network graphs.
- Strong system design, performance tuning, and production debugging skills.
- Upper-intermediate English (B2+) to discuss trade-offs with peers.
- Nice-to-have: experience with OSRM, C++, OpenStreetMap, or routing engines.
