Responsibilities:
- Design, build and operate scalable distributed backend systems serving large numbers of users.
- Architect low-latency, real-time APIs and services for AI-driven conversational products.
- Implement cloud-native services in Java (modern versions), including containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/ECS) on AWS.
- Build and maintain infrastructure for high-throughput data processing (Kafka, Redis, etc.) and ensure observability and resilience.
- Drive end-to-end delivery: design, implementation, testing, deployment and monitoring.
- Lead technical execution, break down complex projects, remove blockers and align cross-team work.
- Mentor and grow engineers, set and promote best practices for system design, reliability and performance.
Requirements:
- 8+ years professional backend engineering experience with strong Java skills (modern versions).
- Proven experience designing and operating cloud-native, high-availability distributed systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of AWS, containerisation, orchestration, messaging systems (Kafka) and in-memory stores (Redis).
- Strong observability, debugging and performance-tuning experience for production systems.
- Excellent communication skills and experience leading technical decisions across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to own large components end-to-end and mentor other engineers.
