Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement robust Python services (FastAPI/Django) within a microservices landscape.
- Ensure performance and scalability of backend systems under high load.
- Integrate external APIs and manage cloud deployments on AWS (including Lambda).
- Maintain containerized deployments with Docker and improve CI/CD workflows (GitLab).
- Diagnose and resolve production issues; profile and remove bottlenecks.
- Provide technical leadership through code reviews, design sessions and mentorship.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Python and FastAPI/Django skills.
- Demonstrable experience with microservices, distributed systems and high-throughput platforms.
- Practical AWS experience, familiarity with Lambda, Docker and CI/CD automation.
- Knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka) and third-party API integration.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and remote-collaboration skills.
- Experience in fintech/payments or real-time systems is preferred; relocation support to Cyprus available.
