Responsibilities:
- Design, build and maintain high-availability microservices in Java and Spring Boot within a domain-driven architecture.
- Implement event-driven patterns (Kafka or similar), ensure reliable message processing and system resilience.
- Architect and optimise relational schemas and queries for PostgreSQL to meet performance and scalability goals.
- Lead integration work with partner banks and external systems; collaborate with Implementation and Solutions teams.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews and promote engineering best practices (testing, observability, CI/CD).
- Participate in cross-team planning, incident response and continuous improvement of payments infrastructure.
Requirements:
- Strong production experience with Java and Spring Boot and building microservices at scale.
- Solid understanding of event-driven systems (Kafka), relational DB design (PostgreSQL) and performance tuning.
- Experience with distributed system patterns, reliability engineering and observability practices.
- Background in payments, correspondent banking or fintech is desirable but not mandatory.
- Proven ability to collaborate across product, engineering and commercial teams and to mentor others.
- Excellent engineering discipline: testing, monitoring, deployments and domain-driven design skills.
