Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain highly available backend services using Java and Spring Boot within a microservices architecture.
- Lead development of event-driven systems using Kafka (or similar), including data modelling and message schemas.
- Architect and optimise relational databases (PostgreSQL) for performance, scalability, and data integrity.
- Collaborate with Implementation, Solutions Engineering, Product, and Business Development to integrate partner systems and support customer onboarding.
- Drive system design, code reviews, observability, and resilience; mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
- Represent the team in cross-functional planning to deliver reliable payment flows and platform capabilities.
Requirements:
- Significant experience (aligned with senior level) in Java and Spring Boot on large-scale microservices platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka or other streaming systems and designing for eventual consistency and throughput.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL schema design, optimisation, and transactional behaviour.
- Experience with domain-driven design, APIs, distributed systems, and partner integrations.
- Product-oriented mindset, strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and mentorship experience.
- Familiarity with testing, deployment pipelines, and cloud environments relevant to financial services.
