Responsibilities:
- Design and implement core backend systems: modular billing engine, accounting ledger, and energy-market communication protocols.
- Build reliable, scalable services that handle billing, payments, and integrations across OEMs, installers, and consumers.
- Write production-quality TypeScript/Node.js code and take ownership from design through deployment and monitoring.
- Apply distributed-systems principles to ensure high availability, consistency, and maintainability.
- Integrate payment providers (e.g., Stripe) and implement complex billing flows and reconciliation processes.
- Improve engineering standards via code reviews, architecture decisions, testing, and observability.
- Collaborate with product, operations, and domain experts to translate energy-market requirements into technical solutions.

Requirements:
- 3+ years building and shipping backend infrastructure in production environments.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, with deep understanding of asynchronous programming patterns.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and ORM-style data access (Drizzle or similar) and designing robust schemas and queries.
- Familiarity with Next.js backend features (API routes/server components) or comparable server frameworks.
- Practical knowledge of distributed systems concepts and designing services for scalability and fault tolerance.
- Hands-on experience integrating payment systems (Stripe) and implementing billing/accounting workflows.
- Solid computer science fundamentals (degree or equivalent practical experience) and a track record of technical excellence.
- Strong written and verbal communication, clear ownership mindset, and ability to operate in a fast-moving, ambiguous startup environment.
