Responsibilities:
- Own predictable, high-quality engineering delivery: set priorities, commit to timelines, and uphold standards.
- Lead and grow the team: one-to-ones, coaching, career development, feedback, and performance management.
- Run hiring end-to-end: define bar, interview, assess, and onboard new engineers.
- Partner with Product to shape roadmaps, negotiate scope, and protect teams from unnecessary churn.
- Drive AI-led engineering adoption: teach best practices for AI agents, remove friction, and evolve workflows.
- Contribute ~1 day/week technically via code reviews, architecture discussions, or targeted tasks.
- Engage with customers (freight forwarders, airlines) to surface real-world needs and validate solutions.
- Improve systems and processes using data to remove bottlenecks and increase team effectiveness.
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing software engineers with hiring, coaching, and performance management.
- Strong backend engineering background and solid architecture instincts.
- Track record of shipping meaningful products/features against deadlines.
- Comfortable working in an AI-led development environment and evolving agent workflows.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a distributed, remote-first setting.
